what ever happened to me

Ó 1995 & 2002  Anthony Congiano

i saw footprints in the snow

where they lead i did not know

someone was here that much i know

but they’re not now, to where did they go

and while i wonder a flake falls from the sky

landing and unknown to passers by

it froze for a moment on that cold winter’s day

then like my vision of me it melted a way

away like me,

what ever happened to me

with pride less pleas i’m sorry

a little weaker to be

apologies to me

alone and only me

now step into slush or step over time

step on to steps or step along mine

horizon’s the means to the end of the snow

it’s a fine line to end it or go

quite alone, angered and sad… it’s hard through the cold, still i see

i know I’m out there, i must be somewhere… what ever happened to me

now i fell back, made my prints in the snow

made my own trail, but why, i don’t know

so where am I now, i still see the snow

but i don’t see me, to where did i go
