Silver Highway

Ó 1985  Anthony Congiano

Well, they come from all around for a chance to race here
Few win, most lose, some crash, and then others they die
But, reward out weighs the risk here on Silver Highway

Green light, flashes on, that starts them roaring down the road

Their hands tightly grip their wheels their sweat is flowing
Their stick shifts dart through the dark at the speed of light
They plant... the peddle to the metal and their tires burn right through their minds

They swallow any fear and scream 'round the curves

Silver Highway racing
Silver Highway crashing
Silver Highway life

By now they can taste the burning heat of rubber
The first laps complete and the last place car eats dust
But, at the head of it all one car cuts through only freedom

Still each car dreams of pulling away from the pack

Now, times counting down for the men of Silver Highway
That checkered flag is out an waving through the air
The first one blasts past the last and hailed the victor

Most wear pain while only one wears Champaign

Silver Highway racing
Silver Highway crashing
Silver Highway life
